MSH-45 Masha is a Siberian mouse, belonging to the Holstaurus group, and was purchased from MPR in 2009. The white and gray Siberian mouse has a pair of large ears and rarely vocalizes. She has been a very curious mouse and loves to explore her environment. The apartment had no heater or air conditioner, forcing the mouse to live in a small cage that was too small for her to move around comfortably. This caused Masha's fur to become matted and trapped heat inside the cage which caused high levels of stress and eventually resulted in death. Masha was rescued and taken to the MPR House where she can move around and play comfortably. Being a mouse, Masha is very curious and loves to explore. Since coming into rescue, she has quickly adapted to her new surroundings and enjoys playing. She enjoys testing her new cage confinement by jumping from one end of the cage to the other repeatedly chasing after toys that are housed in both ends of her enclosure for hours at a time. She will often turn on toys that are plugged into the cage even if they do not have electric cords connected to them, because she loves when something vibrates when she put them in motion! She also enjoys chasing attention when she wants to be close to someone or see something moving. She has been seen pawing at the hands of humans and follows their movement to visually explore her environment. Masha's favorite food is chicken and she will run to the feeding area when she hears the sound of her food hitting the bowl in anticipation for a meal. She frequently begs and chases after frozen and live mice that are provided for her in hopes that they might be hers. Sometimes, Masha will hold the live mouse so gently with her feet, but if she sees someone coming towards her, she immediately drops it and runs to hide in a corner until the person leaves so she can finish eating. cfa1e77820
